Constitutional Amendments - Legislators are waiting for President to appointment extraordinary session

Extraordinary session on the constitutional amendments is to be held tomorrow, but whether the president will appoint the extraordinary session of the Parliament will become known today.

Majority addressed Giorgi Margvelashvili yesterday with a request to appoint a plenary sitting for adoption in the third reading of the Constitution. The head of the country has a 48-hour deadline to make a decision. Today, the parliament will hold a bureau session where MPs will go through the details of the extraordinary session tomorrow.

"This process will end, we will adopt the Constitution in the third hearing. Afterwards, the President of Georgia will sign the document and it will enter into force, "- said Guram Macharashvili, First Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Procedural Issues and Rules Committee.

Until the final conclusion of the Venice Commission, the opposition does not advise the ruling team to accept the current version of the constitution and they will try to convince the majority in it once more at the plenary session.

"Unfortunately, the Georgian Constitution is adopted on the background of the unanimous opposition of the civil society, opposition parties and the President of Georgia. The Venice Commission`s negative conclusion adds up to this. This is a very sad reality when one party changes the constitution on its own whim, "- said Irakli Abesadze, a member of the parliamentary minority faction European Georgia - Movement for Freedom ".

"National Movement" will not participate in voting. The party says that the ruling team is trying tousurp the power this time with the constitution.
