Demonstration at Tbilisi City Hall - reportedly 6 people are detained

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has released a statement regarding the rally held at Tbilisi City Hall. According to the agency, unauthorized rally was held at the City Hall, where activists tried to block the road.

According to the MIA, law enforcers detained six persons during the rally, against whom the investigation was launched under Articles 166 and 173 of the Administrative Offenses Code.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued a statement :

"On October 2 of the current year, a mayoral candidate of one of the political parties tried to break into the City Hall`s administrative building The protesters blocked the road so that the traffic on Kostava Avenue was paralyzed.

"In order to protect public order and security, employees of MIA Patrol Police and Tbilisi Police Department were mobilized at the City Hall.

"Interior Ministry officials acted in accordance with the law, repeatedly called on offenders to keep order and not to block the motorway , but the demonstrators did not obey police orders and resisted law enforcement agencies. The MIA detained 6 persons on violation of articles 166 and 173 of Administrative Code."
