Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia states that on October 6, the final conclusion of the assessment of the constitutional amendments will be adopted at the plenary session of the Venice Commission
According to Kobakhidze, the conclusion will be based on the preliminary assessment of the document. According to him, the ruing team is ready to fulfill the two conditions that were agreed with the Venice Commission.
It is about abolishiong the issue of block and bonuses from the Constitution.
Kobakhidze says that the ruling party`s offer to veto over the two issues concerning the president is still in force.
"The plenary session of the Venice Commission will be held on October 6, where the final document will be approved and this conclusion will be naturally relevant to the preliminary conclusion," Irakli Kobakhidze said.
According to him, the agreement with the Venice Commission has been reached on two issues, which will necessarily be reflected in the constitution. It`s about removing bonus and blocks.
"We have offered the veto in accordance with the agreement reached with the Venice Commission, but it seems that the President does not want do it," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
Before leaving for Strasbourg, Irakli Kobakhidze once again explained that the parliamentary majority will share the veto only if the president will agree on the conditions of the ruling team.
