Mikheil Saakashvili has addressed the Ukrainian Immigration Service with the political asylum request.

A Lawyer of the former governor of Odessa has made a statement in this regard.

This demand is named by the General Prosecutor of Ukraine as a hindering factor to the extradition of the former president of Georgia. According to the Minister of Justice of Ukraine, his office will take the decision about the extradition of Saakashvili to Georgia only after examination, which will take several weeks.
