In regard to constitutional amendments, the majority has turned down the proposal of the president and is preparing to overcome the veto. The proposal of the country"s first person is categorically unacceptable for the majority.
President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili and opposition offers three proposals to the parliamentary majority regarding Georgia’s constitutional changes.

As President’s Parliamentary Secretary Ana Dolidze has declared, the decision has been made at today’s meeting.

‘The opposition and president have decided to make a step of consent and made four proposals: prohibition of bonuses, admission of election blocs – or the two issues demanded by Georgian Dream; third – establishment of proportional elections in 2020 and fourth: to elect the president by the parliament when it is two-chamber. The Venice Commission recommendations also included this. These are the four basis steps to the agreement… If the parliamentary majority needs also a religious freedom article, opposition is ready to discuss it,’ Ana Dolidze has remarked.

In parallel to the consultations held in Tbilisi, the process is underway in the Venice Commission, tomorrow Irakli Kobakhidze will present the version of the constitutional amendments acceptable for the " Georgian Dream" at the session of the Venice Commission.
