Giorgi Margvelashvili vetoed part of the constitutional amendments project. The president made a statement at a briefing several minutes ago.

The veto touched upon six issues,out of which, as the President states, five were
taken as obligation by the "Georgian Dream" before the Venice Commission.

"The motivated remarks were written in the spirit of the agreement and consensus and includes four issues that are required by the ruling party," Georgian Dream "issues ... bonuses, blocks of the Constitutional Court and freedom of religion. The fifth issue belongs to the "Georgian Dream" .... This is the issue of appointing proportional elections in 2020, "- Giorgi Margvelashvili said.

Another issue that the President is entitled to veto is the rule of electing the president.

According to the President, in case of consideration and sharing of these six proposals the country will reach a lot.

"We will get a constitution that will have the votes of the opposition. Which will also have the support of the opposition outside the parliament ... we will receive the document of consent, "- the President of Georgia said.
