Lawyer not allowed to visit persons detained at rally outside City Council

The lawyer was not allowed to visit persons detained at protest rally outside City Council. The reason is the problem connected with issueing a permit.

The rally participants protested agains the transfer of lands to Bidzina Ivanishvili`s. Eight persons have been detained by law enforcers.

According to the lawyer, the majoritarian candidates of the UNM and several other members of the party are among the detainees.

The leaders of the UNM came to Tbilisi Police Department. Tinatin Bokuchava, MP, is the wife of one of the detainees, Kote Ioseliani,who is a majoritarian candidate in Vake.

Tinatin Bokuchava states that the Public Defender"s Office was told by the law enforcement agencies that the detainees were not present in the building. However, Bokuchava states that this is a lie and Kote Ioseliani was taken to this department.

During the rally, these persons were detained under Article 173 and 166 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which pertains to resistance to police and petty hooliganism.
