Opposition hopes that Lado Chanturia will be free from political influence

Opposition responds to the appointment of Judge Lado Chanturia to the European Court. Leaders of the opposition hope that Lado Chanturia will be an impartial judge and will not pursue "Georgian Dream" interests.

"I would like to thank the European Court of Human Rights for the fact that they have ended up this disgraceful process, which has lasted for two years and in which Tea Tsulukiani and the Georgian Dream were involved. I have great hope that Lado Chanturia, though I do not have a great illusion, will be independent and impartial and will not pursue "Georgian Dream "interests," - said Zaza Bibilashvili.

Representatives of the opposition draw attention to the process that preceded the election of a judge from Georgia to Strasbourg.

"This whole process was absolutely shameful for the Georgian authorities and the Georgian state," - said Sergo Ratiani,a member of "European Georgia".

Lado Chanturia will start working at the Strasbourg Court on January 8, 2018 after the swearing in. He will replace Nona Tsotsoria
