Head of the International Monitoring Mission of IRI arrived in Tbilisi

The observation mission arrived in Tbilisi. Steven Nix will hold meetings with the opposition and the ruling team before the elections.

The international organization will be monitoring the voting day. Observers will travel to regions in addition to Tbilisi and will monitor local self-government elections.

"Our delegation in Georgia came to assess the elections. We hope that the voting process will be properly conducted by the Central Election Commission and its representatives at the regional level, and the election process will pass in peaceful environment. Before the elections we will meet representatives of the Georgian government and political parties. According to the report prepared by our organization, political parties are conducting live and open campaigns in the pre-election period. Local elections are important because people elected in the Sakrebulo play an important role in shaping the country"s future, "- said Steven Nix, head of the IRI International Monitoring Mission.
