The President of Georgia has signed the constitutional amendments. Giorgi Margvelashvili announced it at a special briefing.
"It is very difficult for me to sign this constitution and, despite the internal and external challenges of the country, I have to take all steps to prevent possible causes of destabilization, as the head of state, the commander of the military forces and the guarantor of the constitution I am signing this document, "- Giorgi Margvelashvili said.
According to the president, as soon as the new constitution was launched, it was clear for him that the ruling team was planning to adopt a one-party constitution. As Giorgi Margvelashvili said, he used the veto right to avoid getting a one-party constitution.
The president urged the population to come to the upcoming self-government elections.
