The parliamentary opposition intends to summon the Interior Minister to the parliament. Representatives of the opposition will presumably raise the issue at the bureau session today. The case concerns the death of the man while detention by the patrol polic on Nutsubidze slope.
MPs demand explanations from the head of the mnistry regarding the incident on Nutsubidze slope.
"The government has released a significant message to the public that there were video records. As it turned out, their statement was a lie. We heard from the Prosecutor`s Office the opposite statement, which is the first of all a violation of law. The lawenforcement minister must first answer all the questions that the public has, "- said Khatia Dekanoidze, a member of the UNM.
Opposition members say the suspicions about the case are caused by the deaths of Paata Pavliashvili and the statements released by the MIA and Prosecutor"s Office, regarding the absence of shoulder cameras` records.
"I think it is right that the parliament should have some information from the senior officials," said Gigi Tsereteli, chairperson of the parliamentary faction "European Georgia - Movement for Freedom".
The ruling team does not consider it necessary to summon Giorgi Mghebrishvili to the legislative body and believes that the opposition`s demand is inadequate.
"We had hoped that such records would exist, but it does not matter, there are many eyewitnesses in this case and I think the testimony of witnesses are more likely to be informative.This is aAnother attempt to arrange a political circus, I do not think it"s necessary and timely to summon the Minister, "- Vice Speaker of the Parliament Gia Volski said.
