"This is a direct message that there is a problem in our electoral system," the President of Georgia assessed the municipal elections.
According to the president, the elections were conducted without serious violations.
Giorgi Margvelashvili remarked that it is necessary to establish an election system that will turn into political pluralism.
‘’Up to ten days ago Georgian Dream won elections that were conducted in a normal manner, without any serious violations. The opposition was allowed to conduct an election campaign. Questions may rise when there is competition and one party always wins with majority… the questions may refer to whether it is good. I can say that this is the aim of democracy. Democracy means competition. European democracy means that there are at least three or five strong parties in a state. This is a direct message saying there is a problem in our election system. We are a free society trying to impose higher democratic standards,’ Giorgi Margvelashvili has declared.
