Elections, constitutional amendments, occupation - NGOs inform the President of Estonia


The Estonian President met with third sector representatives this morning. The Representatives of non-governmental organizations have discussed local self-government elections, constitutional amendments and Russian threats.

"We have always criticized the fact that the new constitution was adopted by only one political party. We also spoke about court reform. We mentioned corruption as well, "said Eka Gigauri, the Executive Director of Transparency International Georgia.

Mikheil Benidze, Executive Director of Fair Elections, said that the president was interested in the Georgian society"s attitude towards the European integration.

According to Paata Gaprindashvili, the Director of the Georgian Association of Reforms (GRASS), they spoke about the increased risk of annexation threats during the meeting with the President of Estonia. The issue of borderisation was discussed as well.
