The Ministry of Corrections does not confirm that Vano Merabishvili has received notification about his early release in the penitentiary establishment. According to the agency, the local council of the Ministry of Corrections and Probation does not consider the case of the former Prime Minister at the given stage.

The information that Vano Merabishvili may be released before the New year has been spread recently. According to the lawyer of the former Minister of Internal Affairs, Vano Merabishvili has already been informed about the possibility of beiing released before the scheduled time and has been told that he has the right to use this mechanism. Final decision will be taken by the Parole Commission.
