Megis Kardava has been sentenced to 50 days of pre-trial detention. According to the Ukrainian side, the process of transferring the detainee to the Georgian side has already begun. According to a statement released by the Ukraine’s Security Service Megis Kardava was detained while crossing the border.
"As reported by the agency the detainee, citizen of Georgia, has been wanted since 2012 for crimes envisaged by the articles #24, 138 and 144 of Georgia’s Criminal Code.
‘The detained Georgian citizen had two false passports (tone – Ukrainians and one – Latvian ) as well as false document of sailor by means of which he crossed Ukrainian and other countries` borders.
Under the decision of the Galitski regional court, the citizen of Georgia has been sentenced to 50 days in jail,’ - the statement reads.
