At this stage it is not considered to hand Megis Kardava over to Georgia, the statement was made by Ukrainian lawyer of the former head of the military police.

Mikheil Lotitsky told the Courier in a telephone interview that Ukrainian law enforcement agencies did not even determine whether the detainee was really Megis Kardava, as he did not have any identification documents during his detention.

The Ukrainian lawyer also said that his client has not requested a political asylum from Ukraine yet.
