Opening of the Berlin Wall fragment - Shevardnadze`s family addresses German ambassador to Georgia

The family of the former Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze addresses the German ambassador to Georgia and demands explanation on the exhibition of the Berlin Wall fragment on Europe Square. The ex-president"s family has released a special statement today, where they address the Georgian ambassador to Germany and express regret over the fact that Eduard Shevardnadze`s photos were not exhibited at the opening of the fragment of the Berlin Wall in the European Square.

“We would like to express our deepest regret over the fact that at the exhibition in European Square, held within the framework of the opening of the fragment of the Berlin Wall, no place could be found for our grandfather, Eduard Shevardnadze"s photos. This fact is a complete neglect of the objective history.

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, fairly called the fact an "anomaly". We thank him for the right state, civil and human position”, says the letter.

Shevardnadze’s grandchildren reminded the German Ambassador of several historical events, which provef personal contribution of Eduard Shevardnadze to the independence of Germany and demolition of the Berlin Wall..

Giorgi Kvirikashvili urged the organizers of the ceremony to eradicate the flaw in the opening of a fragment of the Berlin Wall on Europe Square.
