A City Council has a new chair. with 40 votes against one, the City Council members have elected Giorgi Tkemaladze. His deputies were elected at today"s session as well.

The voting procedure was preceded by the first political statements of the new members of the Sakrebulo. Levan Khabeishvili, the member of United National Movement appealed to the ruling party and stated that the government held a special operation named " Elections."

"I will once again confirm the position of me and my friends. We are ready to work with you for the welfare of Tbilisi. As for corruption, nepotism - we will be irreconcilable," said Levan Khabeishvili.

Levan Japaridze, the member of Tbilisi City Council faction "Georgian Dream" answered Levan Khabeishvili"s statement.

"Yes, we are elected by machinists, yard-keepers, grave-diggers. There was a time when you were elected by dead souls," -Japaridze said.

Goka Gabashvili, Member of "European Georgia" made a statement at the first session of the sixth convocation council. Gabashvili said that everyone should remember the interests of Tbilisi residents.
