eleven NGOs express concern over the criticism expressed by the government towards the Public Defender. The NGOs consider that an attitude of the judiciary is dangerous.

"The court does not know anything in regard to the mandate of the Public Defender, or it is based on the political conjuncture that further aggravates the situation," say human rights" organizations.
Ana Natsvlishvili,the Chairman of the Georgian Young Lawyers" Association notes that the statements made about the Public Defender are incorrect.

Giorgi Oniani, deputy executive director of "Transparency International Georgia", says that such statements generally diminishes the Public Defender"s Institute.

"This is very unacceptable and does not characterize a democratic society," Giorgi Oniani says.
