Opposition thinks that the candidate loyal to government will be chosen for the position of ombudsman

"The government will attempt to choose a candidate that is loyal to the government," - said Nino Kalandadze, a member of the political council of the United National Movement.

NGO sector offers 4 candidates for the ombudsman"s vacant position. At the same time, the parliamentary majority will discuss Sopho Khorguani and Sopo Japaridze"s candidacies.

"It is important not only to be naturally impartial and to have this mood now, but in fact, to be able to withstand the pressure of the government, which will be if such a candidate is chosen," - Nino Kalandadze said.

Sergi Kapanadze, Deputy Chairman of the Parliament, member of the Faction "European Georgia - Movement for Freedom" notes that it is important for his party that the candidate has enough experience in the field of human rights protection.

"Political affiliation, in my opinion, is a serious problem for the candidate. Nomination from NGO is a serious plus, especially from non-governmental organizations working on human rights and have ratings, experience and prestige in this regard, "said Sergi Kapanadze.

The majority will discuss the candidates to be nominated to the Public Defender"s Office tomorrow. The ruling team will take final decision after the consultation.
