Circumstances of Giorgi Giunashvili`s release from Tskhinvali prison are unknown to his family

The details of the negotiations and the circumstances preceding Giunashvili`s release from the prison are not known to Giunashvili`s family. After a year and a half in a strict regime prison in Tskhinvali, Giorgi Giunashvili was released yesterday.

He was detained in the occupied Tskhinvali region in 2016 and sentenced to 20 years in prison for sabotage-terrorist activities.

The statement released by Anatoly Bibilov"s administration says that Raul Khajimba asked Bibilov to release the citizen of Georgia, in exchange for an Abkhazian prisoner in Georgia.
