"Today it has been confirmed that what we have been saying for so long that the Georgian government has Merabishvili as its prisoner officially recognized by the Strasbourg Court," - Vano Merabishvili`s lawyer Giorgi Chiviashvili said about the decision of the European Court of Justice .

The Judicial Chamber left in force the 2016 Decision, according to which the Georgian Government violated Article 18 of the Human Rights Convention against Merabishvili.

The lawyer explains that according to the decision of the Strasbourg court, Merabishvili"s detention was illegal.
