President`s administration responds to the decision of the Strasbourg Court on Vano Merabishvili`s case. Giorgi Abashishvili blames the ruling team for damaging the image of the state .
The head of the president"s administration says that the punishment of those persons who violated the law against Merabishvili should take place.
"It is very regrettable that in virtually one and a half year Georgia has not done anything to punish those people because of whom the state of Georgia has to apologize today. We do not know names of those people who have committed a particular violation against prisoner Merabishvili. In the period of "National Movement", it was just like that when people could abuse their official authority and
it resulted in failure of the "National Movement". Unfortunately, the same tendency is going on today, when there are people who can violate the law, to abandon their official duties and no one raises the issue of their responsibility and the Georgian state has to apologize for that, "said Giorgi Abashishvili.
The European Court of Human Rights declared the decision on Vano Merabishvili"s case yesterday. The Judicial Chamber left in force the 2016 Decision, according to which the Georgian Government violated Article 18 of the Human Rights Convention against Merabishvili.
