A debate took place between the Minister of Justice and Sergi Kapanadze, Member of "European Georgia" in the parliament. Sergi Kapanadze mentioned a decision taken by the Strasbourg Court in regard to Vano Merabishvili"s case, according to which violation of the article 18 was established.

Sergi Kapanadze addressed the Minister of Justice and asked whether she was going to become the only minister in Europe who disregards Strasbourg"s decision and leaves a prisoner in prison.

The Minister of Justice called Sergi Kapanadze"s statement a lie. According to Tea Tsulukiani, the Human Rights Court has not established that Vano Merabishvili is a political prisoner.

As for the release of Merabishvili, Tea Tsulukiani considers that Merabishvili should be punished.

" Violation of the article 18 is not what you have been expecting for.You have been waiting for granting the status of the political prisoner through the Strasbourg court and could not manage that.If you ask me if Vano should be released from the prison, I believe that it should not happen. because he is serving a sentence, "Tsulukiani said.
