The Ministry of Justice of Georgia asks the Strasbourg court to cancel a temporary measure in regard to the case of Rustavi 2 , which will cause fulfillment of the Supreme Court"s decision.
The Georgian government demands to hand over the broadcasting company to its "legal owner - Kibar Khalvashi". The document became available for Rustavi 2"s lawyers yesterday.
According to the Georgian government, editorial independence of "Rustavi 2" is not in danger, while the temporary measure used by Strasbourg damages the image of the Georgian court.
The authorities say that the pressure on the court is carried out by "Rustavi 2". As an argument they name the statement of "European Georgia", where the party accuses the TV company of spreading false information.
The Georgian government also mentions i allegation of Akaki Gogichaishvili, the former TV presenter of Rustavi 2 that he was not independent during Nika Gvaramia"s directorial term.
According to Rustavi 2 lawyers, the Georgian authorities are trying to change the critical editorial policy of the broadcasting company.
