Today St. George Day is celebrated in the churches.

The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia will hold the liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral and afterwards he will address the parish and bless the representatives of several surnames.

"This is a day of victory over evil. Emperor Diocletian tried many times to persuade St. George to reject Christianity and worship idols. George did not deny Christ, "said Archimandrite Father Joanne.

St. George is the most outstanding saint for Georgia - this day is celebrated twice a year.

On May 6, Orthodox Church recalls St. George"s day of execution.
