Member of European Parliament, Anna Fotyga visited former high-ranking officials in the Matrosov prison. She said she arrived in Tbilisi to visit former colleagues. The Member of the European Parliament called on the government to change the situation.

"I"m in the prison for the third time. I visited people who were my colleagues. When they held their old position, I met them several times. It"s not a pleasant experience – to visit them here. I am a true friend of Georgia and I once again urge the authorities to change this situation. Akhalaia has been in prison for six years, and Vano Merabishvili - for five years. I want them to be healthy, they are isolated. The regime is very strict here and it"s a pity, "-said the member of the European Parliament.
