10 years since the August war - high ranking officials from EU countries are in Georgia

Foreign Ministers of Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine are visiting Georgia on the 10th anniversary of the August war.

High officials of the European Union, along with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, arrived at the memorial of Lech Kaczynski, where they paid homage to the memory of the former President of Poland.

Within the framework of the visit, senior officials of four countries will visit the occupation line in the village of Odzisi and will pay homage to the memory of the warriors who died for territorial integrity.

Within the framework of the visit European senior officials will meet with members of the Georgian government and Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili. A round table will be held to discuss challenges facing security and peace in Europe. Particular attention will be paid to peaceful resolution of conflicts in the region, as well as the Russian-Georgian conflict and difficult situation in terms of security and human rights in the occupied regions.

Polish Foreign Minister who expresses solidarity with the Georgian people, also supports Georgia"s territorial integrity and sovereignty, Georgia"s transatlantic and pro-European aspirations.

"We want to express our solidarity with the Georgian people, express support for Georgia"s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as transatlantic and pro-ieuropean aspirations of your country. We are satisfied with the result of the NATO summit in Brussels the NATO alliance remain open for Georgia," said Jacek Chautovich.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Davit Zalkaniani notes that the visit of leaders of European member states to Georgia is not only a demonstration of support and solidarity but a serious consolidation of the international community in all international formats.

Zalkanian also emphasizes concern about the serious violations of human rights, which the international community should have a sharp response to.
