"We seem especially in the recent periodm how aggressively high officials talk with Rustavi 2 journalists ," said Eka Gigauri, executive director of Transparency International Georgia.
The head of the influential NGO responded to the attack on journalist Eka Gagua and the cameraman Levan Kalandia.
According to Eka Gigauri, aggressive statements made by the representatives of the government to "Rustavi 2" are a message to other people which is unacceptable, so she calls on the government not to encourage such facts.
"Obviously, this is a message about other people that they can allow themselves and such aggression with respect to Rustavi 2 journalists. This is unacceptable. Although any person has the right to dislike the editorial policy of any channel, this is not the basis for the aggressive dealings with journalists. This is a violation of the law and it is important that the government take into consideration all these things and do not distribute such messages in the population, "Eka Gigauri said.
Journalist Eka Gagua and cameraman Levan Kalandia, who were reporting on the violations revealed during the construction of the new railway, were physically assaulted by the representatives of bureau office N 23 of the Chinese Railway.
