The Poti Theater building is falling apart everyday. The building materials fall from the ceiling, the walls are cracked. Every second spent in the building is at the expense of life of the personnel . The theater troupe has been waitng for reconstruction of the building for years.

The buildng which was opened with festivities four years ago has been closed since February. The fact is that the construction was accepted into usage only by visual inspection, because the water leaked into the building on the next day after opening, the elevator was struck, the ceiling collapsed and the walls cracked. The 55-year-old scene driver, who was injured in the lift, died two days ago due to severe trauma.

The Poti City Hall has difficulties to name a particular date when the theater rehabilitation will start.

Construction of Valerian Gunia Theater started during the previous government and lasted for 9 years. The new building was opened by former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili.
