In a statement, Ivanishvili writes that the man who has fought for the freedom of his homeland and has made a dream of many generations to come true, by declaring independence of Georgia "tragically died and was persecuted by his compatriots."

According to Ivanishvili, the investigation of the first president"s case should be completed in a timely manner.
