Representatives of the Venice Commission will meet with members of the High Council of Justice to discuss the criteria of selecting judges of the Supreme Court.
Non-judge members are planning to provide the commission representatives with information about the deficiencies in the system and so called judges" clan. According to them, the draft law prepared by the parliamentary majority, which concerns the appointment of judges, is tailored to the interests of one particular group.
"The main challenge is the clan that manages the system and the law that must enter into force should not strengthen the clan. We will talk about the project regarding the issues that the Georgian Parliament did not take into consideration, "Nazi Janezashvili said.
According to Anna Dolidze, the non-judge member of the Supreme Council of Justice, the Venice Commission has a detailed information to draw a conclusion that will ensure the judicial independence.
