MPs will vote for the selection of candidates for the judiciary of the Supreme Court today. Before that, the Public Defender will present her opinion on the recommendations of European experts before the legislators.
This is the first case when the Ombudsman comes to the legislative body with his initiative.
"All international standards, that regulate nomination of judges, state that those candidates should be nominated who show the best results.
After my report , the MPs will have full information to decide if they will support the draft law in this form. That"s why I do not think it will be formal, besides there are possibilities in the regulation enabling the Parliament to return to the discussion, "said Nino Lomaria, the Public Defender.
The opposition is convinced that the parliamentary majority will not take into consideration the recommendations and will approve the bill without real change.
