Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs is holding a meeting with the population of Pankisi at the moment. The sides are discussing developments in Pankisi and HPP construction issues.
Kakha Sabanadze offered citizens a meeting in Pankisi in the morning when he arrived at the spot after the rally participants were dsipersed.
"I say that everyone who violates the law and touches the police will be punished severely. I"m telling you straight away. In exchange for that , I tell you that the police won`t commit illegal acts and will try to protect the interest of the people as much as possible. Nominate your representative whom you trust, we will take them to Telavi and talk about any topic, "said Kakha Sabanadze.
The situation in Pankisi is still tense. The locals say they will not let the construction of the HPP.
Recall that there was a physical clash between law enforcers and locals, when the riot police used rubber bullets and tear gas against protesters. Three people were injured, two of whom were taken to hospital.
