The ruling team connects increased number of migrants with the right to travel without visa and the opposition say that the government is trying to justify itself and the main reason for migration is the difficult economic situation in the country.
The Manager of the Open Society - Georgia`s European Integration Program, said that there is no accurate data on the people who left the country. Experts say that the citizens are mostly leaving in search of employment.
According to Vano Chkhikvadze, there are assumptions that Georgia has a million or a million and a half migrants, but these are not verified numbers.
"The extend of migration, unfortunately, we do not have exact numbers. Even the migration organization does not have them. That is, we do not exactly have data, how many Georgian citizens have gone abroad.
"As for the cause, as a rule, this is a labor migration and health migration but mainly they leave Georgia due to the existing social economic conditions," Vano Chkhikvadze said.
