The Public Defender released a statement regarding the election process. The Public Defender calls on the law enforcement agencies to conduct an objective investigation into each criminal act in the election period and to inform the public about the results of the investigation.
"Recently, information has been spread on various violent incidents, confrontation between parties, interference in journalistic activity, influencing citizens" will and the possibility of bribing voters, which directly affects the conduct of elections in a calm environment," the statement reads.
According to the spread information, on May 19, in Zugdidi, various political parties are mobilizing supporters, which in turn increases the risk of further aggravation.
"It is unacceptable, along with other important aspects, to put under question the security of citizens and free will of voters," reads the statement.
