Bribery of Voters, Attack on Journalists and Pressure on Citizens from Coordinators - Civil Sector assesses May 19 elections.
Non-governmental organizations are especially concerned about the situation in Zugdidi and Marneuli election districts. According to them, in the majority of the election precincts, the voting day went largely without significant violations, however, the voting process was on the background of tension.
"There was a tense background in Zugdidi and Marneuli election districts. One fact of bribing a voter was fixed when our observer reported the money transfer. The most problematic for us were precincts # 68 and #84 in Marneuli, where there were several violations. District # 68 was functioning in full chaos, "said Mikhail Benidze, executive director of" International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy ".
The elections are also evaluated by the "Young Lawyers Association."
According to Sulkhan Saladze, facts of physical confrontation, as well as cases of pressure and kidnapping of journalists were alarming.
" These election was a rehearsal before the parliamentary elections, very heavy elections are expected in 2020, "- Sulkhan Saladze said.
