Torture and murder of domestic animal will be punishable with imprisonment.
After the amendments to the law, all those, who treat the animal in an ill-fated manner or cause its death will spend an year in a prison.

New regulations will be launched in a week.

Administrative punishment will be toughened as well. The existing fine will be increased and reach 500 GEL.
Although the draft law is prepared according to the European standards, the specialists find faults in the law. They state that execution of law will be problematic. As specialists say, there should be a special institution which will protect animals" rights.

There are many cases of torture and ill-treatment of animals stored in the archive of Courier, However a ccording to NGOs, the state agency has only four such cases.
