Kutaisi and Mtskheta are among 16 oldest cities of Europe

British Telegraph has  named Kutaisi and Mtskheta between 16 oldest cities of Europe.

The newspaper says that both cities are " very much open for visitors".

In the list Kutaisi is on 8th,  and Mtskheta on 14th place.

 

The publication focuses on history of both cities and underlines that first inhabitants settled in Kutaisi in  second millennium BC. The author also states that it was ccapital of Kolkheti.

In the article are named historical monuments of Mtskheta-  the Holy Cross Monastery of Jvari, Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Samtavro Monastery and it is underlined that they are  UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
