The Goverment of Georgia is preparing to help Assyrian Christians

The Georgian goverment is preparing a specific plan to help Assyrian Christians.The Interior Minister announced that the information about specific initiatives will be announced at the next government meeting.

Before the Prime Minister"s decision it became known that the Assyrian children may be brought to Georgia in the near future. After the meeting in the office of the State Minister"s for Diaspora Issues it turned out that 500 Georgian families are ready to give shelter to the children.

How many Assyrians are expected to be brought to Georgia is not yet known. Father Seraphim from Kanda said that it was possible that many would flee to other countries.

"Georgia should shelter Assyrian families" Such a petition appeared in the social network. The authors call for the volunteers to sign it . Young human rights activists called on the Goverment to grant refugee status to Assyrian Christians .
