Nana Kakabadze talks about participation of the US Embassy in compiling the list of political prisoners

The Head of the NGO "Former Political Prisoners for Human Rights", Nana Kakabadze, said that it was the decision of the US Embassy to remove from the  list of the so-called political prisoners the persons accused on the so-called Kochoia case.

Kakabadze said that at the end of 2012, the representatives of the Embassy were conducting negotiations with the Chair of the Human Rights Committee.

Kakabadze said that due to the ultimatum of the US Embassy, the process of drawing up the list of the so-called political prisoners was threatened to fail.

Kakabadze asserts that the US embassy insisted on removing  from the list of so-called political prisoners those accused in organizing the terrorist attack against the US Embassy in Tbilisi.

US ambassador made a brief comment on the Kakabadze`s statement and said he did not know what the journalists were talking about.

The information spread by Kakabadze is not confirmed by the author of the political prisoners list.

Eka Beselia denied the involvement of the Ambassador and the Embassy of the United States in the process, but confirmed that opinions on this case in the Committee differed

The National movement representatives declared that theUS Embassy conducted negotiations on this issue with the former Prime Minister, Bidzina Ivanishvili.
