The occupied territories and the territorial integrity of Georgia were the main topics of discussion at the meetng of Ilia II and the President of Belarus.The Patriarch expressed hope that this visit would be important in this respect as well.

"Georgia is now in a difficult period. The territorial integrity has been violated. Abkhazia and South Ossetia are open woundd in the hearts of every Georgian. Territorial integrity must be restored, as without it ther can not be good relations and cooperation between Georgia and Russia," - said the Patriarch.

The meeting also focused on the two countries" relations and strengthening cooperation.The Belarusian President stressed the significance of the bilateral relations between the two countries

"Our countries have always been close to each other and the pain that you have mentioned regarding the territorial integrity of Georgia, is quite close for us .You know our position. We will do everything to close this sad page of your history as soon as possible. We should think about the future. We have agreed with your government that in the near future will do our best to overcome it all together, "- said Lukashenko.
