Mikheil Chkhenkeli will be able to continue the reforms that are successfully ongoing in the Ministry of Education without wasting time. The Prime Minister of Georgia made such statement at the cabinet meeting.
According to Giorgi Gakharia, Chkhenkeli was involved in both the preparation of the systemic reform of education and at all stages of its implementation and is fully aware of what has been happening in this Ministry in recent years.
"I would like to emphasize that Mikheil Chkhenkeli has been involved in the preparation of the systemic reform of education, as well as in all stages of its implementation, and therefore he knows exactly what has been going on in the Ministry of Education in recent years. This is of utmost importance to us and that is why, of course, along with other merits, Chkhenkeli will be able to continue the reforms that are successfully ongoing in the Ministry of Education, without wasting time", - said the Prime Minister.
He particularly emphasized the importance of vocational education and instructed the Minister of Education to pay particular attention to this direction.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli was appointed Georgia"s Minister of Education on November 13, 2019. He has been the Advisor to the Prime Minister of Georgia in educational issues to date. In 2017-2018, he served the Minister of Education and Science, and prior to that, he was Vice-Principal of Tbilisi State University.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli holds a PhD and is a member of the Association of Professors of US Universities.
