Construction of a road between Chechnya and Georgia is of political character but has a big importance for the Caucasus. Such statement made the leader of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov.
In an interview with Russia media, Kadyrov talked about the construction of the 66-kilometre Itum-Kali–Shatili road: “I think that this road must be opened in the nearest future so that we can settle relations with our neighbours, namely with Georgia.
He said that there was the need to improve the living conditions of the population and expressed hope that there were people in the Georgian government “who knew the history and how the ancestors lived”.
