Accused Gigi Ugulava and injured Goka Gabashvili – the Court discussed airport incident

The Tbilisi City Court has ordered GEL 2,000 bail for one of the leaders of European Georgia, Gigi Ugulava.
The verdict was announced by Zviad Sharadze, judge of the Tbilisi City Court.
One of the opposition leaders has 30 days to pay the bail. At the same time, Ugulava should hand over his ID and passport to the investigating agency.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Gigi Ugulava and one of the participants of the physical confrontation at Tbilisi airport were charged with violence, while Goka Gabashvili and another person involved in the incident were declared victims.
The incident took place yesterday morning. Members of the European Georgia claimed that two men assaulted Ugulava and Gabashvili.
Ugulava wrote on his Facebook page ahead of the court hearing that neither he, nor his lawyer Giorgi Gelkhauri would participate "in this nonsense".
He considers that everything at the airport "was staged" as the incident happened in the most protected place at the airport, beyond passport control area.
The former mayor now has one month to post bail. The next court hearing has been set on January 30, 2020.
