“We have similar problems - this is a fight for territorial integrity” – Gakharia’s visit to Ukraine

The Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia met with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. He also held a meeting with Dmytro Razumkov, Chairman of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada.

After the meeting, Gakharia and Zelensky signed an agreement on the establishment of a high-level strategic council of Georgia and Ukraine. The activities of the Strategic Council include four main areas - political, trade-economic, defense-security and cultural-humanitarian. The working groups set up in each direction will be led by the relevant ministers, ensuring a high level of comprehensive bilateral dialogue.

During the meeting with Razumkov, the head of the Government focused on the common aspirations and challenges of the two countries.

“Our countries have a lot in common, we have common aspirations and, unfortunately, similar challenges - this is our fight for territorial integrity, but our relationship and the history of our countries have proven that we will address these challenges with dignity. I am sure we will be able to develop our relations, both at the parliamentary and at other levels”, - said Razumkov.

“It is a great honor for me to be in the capacity of the Prime Minister of Georgia in Ukraine and take another step towards friendship, cooperation and advancement between our two fraternal peoples. We are united by our past and the challenges that our citizens and states face - territorial integrity of our countries. I am confident that together we will be able to take very effective steps in this direction. I am pleased that today, as part of the official visit, we will sign an agreement on the establishment of a high-level strategic council between Georgia and Ukraine. This is precisely the format and the level of strategic relationship that should unite our states and our citizens”, - concluded Gakharia.
