Expressing a diplomatic protest from our part would have been unreasonable and counterproductive. Such a statement made Prime Minster of Georgia, while commenting on his speech made in Russian at the GUAM summit.
According to Giorgi Gakharia, the hosting country required that speeches be made in Russian.
“This makes me smile as a language does not make any meaningful difference. The hosting country that is involved in a fierce conflict with Russia made a speech in Russian, and it wanted others to follow its lead. Expressing a diplomatic protest from our part would have been unreasonable and counterproductive and would have prevented us from achieving the desired outcomes with Ukraine.
Generally, this is an international organization, the language of which is defined by protocol”, - said the Head of the Government.
