By 2020 the work of the Inter-Agency Human Rights Council will be intensified – Gakharia

It is essential to continue reforming the law enforcement system. The reforms were launched to enhance the quality of human rights and the quality of investigations, both for the democratization of the country and in the fight against crime. Such a statement made the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to Giorgi Gakharia, there is no reason to defeat criminals unless human rights standards are upheld.

“We need to continue the reform of the investigative system in 2020 to increase the quality of the investigation in terms of separating the investigative components of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor’s Office. The efforts of the Inter-Agency Human Rights Council and Secretariat will be intensified, as human rights will be a priority in 2020, like previous years”, - concluded the Head of the Government.
