We are dealing with an occupation, difficult, uncontrolled situation. If necessary, we will use the levers available to us to ensure engagement of international community in the ongoing processes in Abkhazia. Such a statement made Irakli Sesiashvili, the Chairman of the Parliament’s Defense Committee.

According to him, the Government is closely watching developments in occupied Abkhazia and it is in everyone’s interest to avoid escalation.

“It is very important for all of us not to escalate the situation, but an analysis of the current situation gives us reason to say that Russia cannot control the situation there. It controls just its own, interests in Abkhazia.

It is clear that we are dealing with an occupation, difficult, uncontrolled situation, but due the interests of our country, we want the situation in Abkhazia to be calm, as our compatriot are there. If necessary, we will use all the levers available to us to ensure engagement of international community in the ongoing processes in Abkhazia”, - said Sesiashvili.
