The Prime Minister of Georgia met with EBRD First Vice President Jürgen Rigterink in Davos to discuss the partnership and strengthen economic ties.
During the meeting it was noted that Georgia is one of the largest beneficiaries of the EBRD especially in the energy, agriculture and education sectors. Giorgi Gakharia and Jürgen Rigterink also talked about the importance of developing an inclusive economy and the private sector for Georgia.
“We have invested almost 300 million USD over the last year, and we have a total credit portfolio of nearly 1 billion USD. 70% of our investments are invested in the private sector. The successful reform implementation process of Georgia is very important. Georgia is the most successful among the countries undergoing through the second wave of economic reforms. We welcome the reforms and their consistency”, - said EBRD First Vice President.
“The EBRD was a strong supporter of Georgia and the Georgian government welcomed prolific cooperation with the bank. Georgia was one of the largest beneficiaries of EBRD investments in 2019 and the bank’s diversified portfolio starting from the energy sector to agriculture, gave important possibilities to the country for development”, - added the Head of the Government of Georgia.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum which is taking place in Davos, Switzerland on January 21-24.
